We highly recommend this Groove Spur Embedder. The brass embedding wheel has a groove for the wire to run in holding it much more securely. On either side of the grove are small “grippers” which embed the wire much better. Cannot be used with crimped frame wire.

24.02.2008· I tried not embedding, admittedly in non-grooved frames, and had cases of the foundation collapsing (top folding over and bridging to adjacent frames) and creating a mess in the hive - since then I''ve embedded using my wife''s hairdryer to warm the wax and a small screwdriver to push the wire in at 2" intervals - with tight wires it embeds nicely and is quick.
